Nick is the original poacher-turned-gamekeeper, switching from journalism to PR in 2010. As a journalist he started his career writing about countrysports and general country matters for titles such as The Countryman’s Weekly, The Field and much loved Yorkshire magazine, the Dalesman. He then moved on to become a staff writer on weekly newspapers, covering everything from rural affairs through to court and crime, ascending the ranks to become the business editor of one of the UK’s biggest selling regional daily titles. Nick also has a long-standing relationship with the College of Media and Publishing, where he runs training courses.
Nick grew up on the edge of the North York Moors and it was here his lifelong passion for the countryside and wildlife was forged. Never happier than when exploring the fields, nearby Wykeham and Dalby forests, or feeding sheep with his grandfather, those earlier experiences made a great impression on him. Nick can trace his Yorkshire farming heritage back for more than 300 years.
Outside of work, Nick is an extremely keen shot and amateur cook, often in that order (but only if he manages to hit something!) He is a regular game shot in and around his native county of Yorkshire and holds the DSC1 qualification. He is also a big fan of tweed, red wine, Scotch whisky and tea!
Dan is our Swiss Army guy. A former newspaper and website editor, our creative director has more than 20 years of experience in creating, crafting and delivering award-winning content across papers, magazines, radio, and a range of online and social platforms. He is also a master photographer and film-maker, whose work has featured in The Times, Telegraph, and Daily Mail, as well as in Vogue Italia. Something of an expert in design, he has redesigned, rebranded and launched many newspapers, supplements and magazines.
Dan’s deep understanding of how different types of content work across different platforms – and how consumers engage with that content – brings high-value tangible results to our clients.
Bought up on the South Downs, Dan maintains his passion for hiking and dog-walking in his adoptive Yorkshire. He often bolts off on a Friday for an impromptu camping trip with his daughter and dog and returns with a ton of breathtaking photos and many tales of getting lost and the resulting serendipitous discoveries.
