Turning the Turf Tide: A Plastic-Free Revolution

The Brief

Our client Lindum Turf had the only plastic-free wildflower turf product on the market, and they wanted to increase sales while also putting pressure on the wider industry to go plastic-free.

Most consumers who buy wildflower turf are trying to increase biodiversity in their garden but were unaware they were inadvertently polluting their soil with harmful microplastics found in other wildflower turf products.

What we delivered

“The plastic-free PR campaign the Red Stag Media team devised and implemented has been a huge success. Not only has the wider industry stood up and listened, but we’ve seen the sales of our wildflower turf product grow exponentially. We’re now exploring other growth opportunities and Red Stag Media will be central to them.”

We came up with a PR plan to highlight the issue and managed to get the support of the Turf Growers Association and the Royal Horticultural Society who backed the campaign.

We launched with an exclusive story in The Telegraph which was followed by blanket coverage in the industry press. Follow up stories were put together to ensure that the campaign had longevity and that coverage was consistent.

The media activity helped Lindum Turf to win Sustainable Gardening Product of the Year 2023 category at the Chelsea Flower Show.

Sales of the turf have grown exponentially as a result of the PR activity and award win, with revenue figures way ahead of the ambitious targets set at the start of the campaign.
